Heavy Hearts

Dear Crafters & Friends,

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that our dear friend, Cathy Spencer, has passed away suddenly. Cathy was a loyal customer here for many years which is only important in this context insofar as it explains how we came to know her as a wonderful friend.

Many of you knew Cathy too. If not by name, at least by sight at one of our crops. Cathy was a sweet and quiet lady who was an exceptional paper crafter and photographer. Oftentimes many of you would stop by her cropping spot at the store to admire her beautiful photographs. Cathy's talents in our hobby were overshadowed only by her devotion to her family and her kindness to her friends. She was a big Orioles fan who would be so happy to know they swept the Tigers yesterday  Her beautiful photos highlighted her love of travel. Her positive attitude, sweet disposition and ready smile made her a great friend. She will be missed by all of us here at Photoscraps and we know she will be missed by many of you as well.

We will post here when arrangements have been finalized but we have tentatively been told that there will be a visitation on Thursday and funeral service on Friday of this week.

Paper crafting and photography were important parts of Cathy's life. We here at Photo Scraps would love to honor that legacy so we are in the process of creating a small tribute book in her memory Saturday night during the Scrap your Stash Crop.  Once we have it ready we will post here and we'd appreciate it if you could take a moment to drop by the store to add a thought, memory or condolence message for her family. We would prefer to include handwritten notes but if you are located out of town or otherwise unavailable to stop by, please post your comments here and we will print and include them in the memory book. When completed we plan to present the book to her family.

It is perhaps the best testament to Cathy's uplifting personality and desire to always look on the bright side that her last post on Facebook was simply "A good day". Memories of our friendship with Cathy will contribute to our good days forevermore.

Rest in Peace, friend.

Arrangements for Cathy Spencer are as follows:
Visitation at Hines Rinaldi 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm on Thursday. Memorial Service on Friday at 11:00 am at St. Marks Episcopal Church of Silver Spring . Burial at Gate of Heaven.
